Just a quick note to says thank you for setting us up on this hunt. Kyle and I have had a wonderful time and the hunts were everything I hoped for and more. Our guide (Dan) was superb. Richard and Sarah run a very very high quality program here. I’m glad you will be able to see it in person soon. I would HIGHLY recommend a trip on a helicopter into the back country of the west coast. Amazingly beautiful. Hunting the chamois and tahr up there was truly hunting in God’s back yard.
I would love to talk to you when I get home and tell you more. I will have lots of pics to send you as well. Amazing country and a perfect hunting experience. Don’t hesitate to send any hunters here; Richard can offer a great hunt with fantastic trophies and great guides. No stuffy lodges and dressing for formal dinners. Just really nice folks who love their land, their lives here and enjoy seeing their hunters happy

I can only give you the very best references.
The hunt and accommondation are very nice. The hunters are very professional – they will do everything to get your animal.
I only did Free Range Hunt – but you can olso hunt in fences if you want. The free range hunt is physical quite hard – but extremely good hunting.
I was hunting medium April – in the middle of the Red Stag Roar. I think the best time for the free range stag hunt.
I was hunting for 4 days and had a nice Stag and a Bull Thar.
They have a lot of deers (mostly red stag, fallow and thar) and you will see many deers.
I did not bring my own rifle, because we also did 2 weeks of holiday round NZ. The trip of a lifetime!
The have fine rifles at Glen Denne, so don’t worry about that.
I can only recommend a visit.

I am really happy with that stag. It was exactly what I have been looking for for years. Cant believe the length, balance and weight.
The length was a bit hard to judge on the animal as it had what turned out to be a big body.
All the best.”
Just wanted to give a big thanks to you and your family for the great hospitality and memorable week of hunting at Glen Dene Station. I had been looking forward to my trip for over a year and it certainly did not disappoint. The views from atop Heartbreak Hill and across the lake are fantastic. The opportunity to pursue Tahr was a unique experience and to tag such a quality Bull was just incredible. Hard to believe that was to be surpassed just a couple days later with the spotting and lengthy stalk of my Red Stag. A special mention for my guide Tony, who worked tirelessly to put me on both the Tahr and Stag, and went out of his way to ensure that I had the New Zealand hunting experience that I had envisioned. Can’t wait until I get the mounts back to the U.S., although the memories of both hunts will certainly last a lifetime.
Many thanks and best regards.”

We have had a great time. Your hospitality has been incredible and your wife, family and parents are truly your gems. I’m thankful for Rodney for showing me your place and for being able to meet you and and all of your guides. I will assist you in any manner I can from the states, let’s stay in touch by email. I will be deep into the mining season shortly, but have internet access via satellite. Thanks and God Bless!”
Gary and Merrilee Lewis, from Oregon, recently visited Glen Dene Station–we have this photo gallery from their trip.
Jim and Sue Robinson recently returned from a hunting trip to Glen Dene, and wrote us this note:
As I am sure you are aware, it is an extremely long day of airports and airplanes when you fly from Queenstown to Portland. One positive about all of the sitting and waiting is it allowed Sue and I time to reflect on our New Zealand experience and more specifically our time spent at Glen Dene Station. When you spend a year or more planning a vacation, it seems that your expectations grow and grow as you wait for the time of your departure to finally arrive only to be disappointed when the trip does not live up to those unreasonably high expectations. We are both in agreement that our time at Glen Dene not only met, but exceeded those high expectations. The natural beauty of your property and the surrounding area is awe inspiring, the amount and quality of the game animals was a pleasant surprise, however the time spent with you, Tony, and your family will last in our memories forever. Leslie and Jerry were fantastic hosts and went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The food was great (we ate way too much), the room was spacious and comfortable, had an awesome view and as our stay progressed we felt less like guests and more a part of the family. Sue appreciated the invitation for lunch and shopping as she really enjoyed Sarah’s company, and it was a very pleasant surprise when Sarah stopped by at our hotel in Queenstown to say hello.
The hunting part of the trip could not have been better as I feel very fortunate to have been so successful with the trophies collected and I credit that success to Tony. He is without question the best guide that I have had the pleasure to spend a week with. Tony made sure that we enjoyed each and every day whether hunting, taking photos, sightseeing our just sharing a meal with a friend and always ensured that Sue was a part of the experience not just an observer. In my experience it is extremely rare to find a guide that will consider the observers needs and the hunters needs equally and still be able to get the job done, but Tony did it with ease. He earned my trust and my respect in just a matter of a few days and that is an amazing feat!
Thank you all for making our time spent at Glen Dene Station such a wonderful experience. If you and Sarah find your way to Oregon in the future please contact us as we would love to share some time with you.”

14 year old Hayden Young carries his red stag off the hill!
Dennis Dunn took this phenomenal red stag with an arrow at Glen Dene recently. The green score came in at 324 and 5/8ths. If it’s accepted into the SCI Records as a South Pacific free-ranging red deer, it should beat the current archery #1 record rack by about 35 inches! Read Dennis’ story and see more photos here.
